"Dare, the team's so-called leader. Dare has made entire Reclaimer militias disappear. Curious, it says he's 'hyper-lethal.' There's only one other Annunaki with that type of rating..."
overview![]() Fireteam Phantom Captain "Dare" possesses a talent for leadership and swordsmanship, both in equal measure. He is captain of Fireteam Phantom and has made a career off servicing the 10th Front. He has had the honor of participating in many of the 10th Front's most vicious battles; including both against the Wrathborne and the Separatist Legion. That he has survived through it all speaks volumes. Relatively taciturn, Dare is not a man of many words, and much of what he says comes in the form of order issues to the other members of his Fireteam. He is a weapons and Annunaki tool expert, preferring to diminish his Light for the purpose of relying solely on the Forerunner-grade equipment given to him.
backstory | loreDare was born on Tribute VI. When he was six years old, Tribute VI fell to the Separatist Legion and Dare was evacuated. His parents were killed during the invasion. Dare eventually joined the Forerunner Order and became a Close-Quarter-Combat Specialist and Instructor. Over the course of this time, Dare gained a reputation as an efficient lone-wolf assassin, having single-handedly broken Reclaimer factions and made entire militia groups disappear. He's known in the 10th Front for having partook in the Battle of New Vesta where Goro Va'lai faced off against Agdayne. He was also stationed in Carrion-5 to oversee quarantine preparations and was bequeathed a piece of Blight-grade equipment in the form of the Zealot Variant Aegis. Around this time, Jayce took a high-risk mission on Geo Goa that, if he failed to complete his objective, would "cut out his left eye," according to his conversation with Goro Va'lai. Jayce felt comfortable taking this dare, seeing as he had never failed a mission before. Goro Va'lai saw this dare as a show of both pride and reckless ego and intentionally took measures to ensure that Jayce would not succeed in his mission, unbeknownst to him. When Jayce returned from the mission sullen and defeated, Goro Va'lai personally took his eye in front of his own fireteam. Some time after the ashing of Nibiru and the consequent disbanding of the Forerunner Order, Dare was recruited to the 10th Front. At one point, Goro Va'lai began using Dare as "his own personal grim reaper," and because of this, Goro was hesitant to have Dare assigned to Fireteam Phantom. Nonetheless, he obliged at Dare's request. |

Vandal (Arc) — Tempo Royale "Beautify lethality, relentless style."
-Projectile (Flashbang): A small white orb of Arclight that Dare can toss. Upon its detonation, those in its explosive radius are thereby blinded, deafened and scalded by the Arclight. The light emitted is made of Arc.
-Movement Ability (Blink): A movement ability that allows Dare to teleport a short distance with the caveat that he cannot phase through any physical obstructions.
-Modifier/Passive (Fast Twitch): A passive that keeps Dare from ever being "caught by surprise," if Dare can hear or feel an imminent threat--Arc surges through him to give him the necessary reaction time to defend himself from the danger. This also allows Dare's to swing his blade without having to concentrate every time he does so, greatly helping his close-quarter-combat.
-Melee Ability (Quickdraw): Dare can draw his blade lightning fast when utilizing this melee ability. He can be in the middle of a punch upon activating the ability, and in a quick flash of light, his signature blade will be in his grasp.
-Super Ability (Showstopper): At the peak of Dare's Permutation, Dare is able to produce over 100,000 amperes of electricity, which rivals the power of a natural lightning bolt. The time needed to complete this technique is incredibly fast, and as such the technique is often unavoidable. To use this technique, Dare first charges a Light "path" to lock onto his target, using his passive to force conduction between whatever lies between himself and his target. Then he unleashes the powerful discharge of his Arclight which appears to be a beam that can vary in thickness from that of a whisker to a column. There is a very small window of opportunity where, if an opponent senses the charged particles in the air right before the return stroke of the attack, they are able to dodge it, but it is extremely rare to find an individual capable of such speed. This technique, while extremely destructive, can only be used once and is severely draining on Dare's Light. As such, it is mostly impractical for fights except as a finishing blow.
