Atriox is an almighty daemon whose foil is the long-dead Enoch, precursor of the entire Annunaki species. Atriox styles himself "the Light-ripper, the voice of the Deep, the winged demon that haunts your dreams. The first to witness the sun rise on the cosmos, and the last to watch it set for the final time." He is one of the oldest beings, hungry for the Light and a force of villanous destruction.
biographyThe first daemon and perhaps the oldest living being, Atriox's origins are unknown. He was around to witness the Creation Saga and even partook in the event, indulging in a rivalry with the holy avenger, Enoch. Since then he has been witness to countless wars, cataclysms and rivalries, he has sired whole races, populated entire planes and then hunted them to extinction for his amusement. Atriox is described as being a "child of the Emanation," and seems to act as their foremost representative in the physical universe. After the events of the Creation Saga, Atriox departed through a wormhole with a plot for his next scheme of power. His location was Mala-Ged, where he gave birth to three daughters in a process known as parthenogenesis.
reignAtriox began a populist revolution to eject the military aristocracy known as the Forerunner Order from power, naming his syndicate the Seperatist Legion. By his side during the revolution stood his long-time friend and protector Angarak, who stopped numerous attempts to kill Atriox. Under his rule, the Separatist Legion became a seat of all-encompassing hedonism and revelry. His accomplishments during that time included redistributing wealth to the people, granting citizenship to the Reclaimers, and putting down various alien threats such as the Sindu and the Otsutsuki.
One of Atriox's pleasures was the Amphitheater, a coliseum made for his enjoyment, and one day, an albino gladiator, bleached from prolonged exposure to solar radiation due to being cast out as an infant, named Agdayne made his first appearance there. Agdayne's patient skill and unusual coloration soon made him a favorite of Atriox, and the Dominus eventually made him Myrmidon of the Legion, where he believed his talents would be put to better use as the head of the most fearsome Reclaimer legion ever assembled. Atriox grew to love Agdayne like a son, and believed they were kindred spirits who both envisioned a newer, more perfect world. |

appearance
Atriox has been described as "Big as a dragon, with arms and legs muscled and proportioned like a gigantic wrestler. Two sets of horns, one arcing upward, outward, and backward like a steer's, the other arcing down and curving up like those of a humongous ram. Burning yellow eyes. Razor teeth, locked together in a rictus grin. A beard of bone spurs emerging from a wide jaw. Bat wings. Cloven hooves. Blood-red hide clothed in chains and skulls. And his brow, a wreath of flame moltenized into crown.
personality & traits
Atriox's personality is defined by five key characteristics: his hedonism, his narcissism, his ruthlessness, his need to be adored, and his utter certainty in the ultimate victory of the Darkness. As a hedonist, he loves opulence, extravagant displays, and pleasures of all kinds. As a narcissist, he considers himself godlike in status and power, is incapable of accepting any point of view other than his and immerses himself in royal scenery that often depicts his own image. Fundamentally, however, Atriox wants to love and be loved by those he rules.
Following his encounter with Kronos, Atriox appears to have undergone some sort of profound physical change. He has begun to ingest exotic and dangerous substances, such as liquid helium-4 and pure neutronium, which would instantly kill any normal biological being. Some time after these events, Atriox ceased to appear in the flesh, instead making exclusive use of his robotic proxies when addressing his advisors.
His interest in the Lunaros continues to grow, as he hopes they will become his Shadows and even saved them from being destroyed by the Leviathan, as they both defeated Agdayne and proved themselves to him that there was more to them than just the powers they possess. Atriox laments the brutal, militaristic nature of the Seperatist Legion as it is now, and desires the Lunaros to lead efforts to restore it to its former glory.
Atriox's decision to embrace his hedonism partly stems from the fact that he knows how the end of the galaxy is approaching quickly, and how he wished to revel in each small delight until the end comes. He states that the reason he won't kill the Lunaros is because he's enamored with a warrior who won't yield in the face of such overwhelming despair. Overall, the only goal Atriox strives for is the right to be the last survivor before his own end at the upcoming apocalypse.

It is theorized that 2 thousand trillion trillion years from now, our universe will enter an era known as the "Degenerate Era." A black dwarf is the final phase of all stars, those that become so cold that they emit no heat or light, just dark dense decaying balls of degenerate matter. They are little more than the ashes of stars. Their constituent atoms or are so severely crushed that they are a million times denser than our sun. The fate of the sun is the same for all stars--one day, they must all eventually die and the cosmos will be plunged into eternal night. All stars eventually will run out of fuel, the temperature of the universe drops, the stars one by one through the night sky.... will turn off. It will be no more new stars created, and so that the universe will end not with a BANG, but with a whimper. Not in fire, but in ice. With the death of the last sun, the age of starlight comes to an end.. The universe becomes a cosmic boneyard, sewn with remnants of dead stars. Atriox travels to this future era in order to meditate, requiring the ghastly silence of the void in order to concentrate and draw power. He has been shown to take others to this era as well.
- Atriox views intelligent lifeforms on planet Arda as a form of "accidental panspermia," or "Cosmic Garbage," that they originated accidentally from a pile of waste products dumped on the planet by the Annunaki.
quotes
Throw myself into the space between worlds, when it was you who raised sword and spell against your own family, when it was you who would slip the dagger into your fathers throat during his slumber? No, such shrewd behavior is better left for mortal vice. Even now, your disembodied voice begging me to release your planar shackle tastes like bile at the back of my throat. To think that I once considered myself your steward, when now I could crush you beneath the heel.
-To Kronos, when speaking to him in the Blind Eternities.
"If you kill everyone in the galaxy, you'll be Emperor of nothing. What's the point of all this?"
"You discern a fraction of reality. Beyond these stars exist other galaxies, other worlds, other beings. I will experience or ignore them as I wish. I will spend eternity becoming everything: a farmer, an artist, a simple man. When the last living thing in the universe finally dies, I will enjoy peace and wait for the cycle to begin again."
